Great question

I chose this image again because of recent events around the world.  Protests broke out in our country first but, interestingly enough, other countries have joined in.  The protests are mostly about justice.  In the United States we have watched justice take severe hits lately and all but crumble in many situations.  Unfortunately this is nothing new when it comes to our brothers and sisters of color.  In repeated police dealings we have watched persons with dark skin gunned down by people who are sworn to protect as police or peace officers ( I may be mistaken in calling them peace officers, no pun intended.) and by vigilantes.  What is at stake is justice.  The officers and vigilantes are rarely, if ever, held accountable for what looks like blatant disregard for human life.  It often, but not always, looks like murder.  Many times the officer’s body cameras mysteriously malfunction? or just disappear.  I’m not disputing any claims or trying to sort out truth.   But, a couple of weeks ago we received the worst image, and it is one that is hard to dispute.  It is blatant.  It is obvious injustice and a total disregard for a human life.  I refer to the killing of George Floyd.  In a world full of so many injustices and inhumanity I refer to how accountable we All truly are.

He has told you, O’ man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God? – Micah 6:8  NASB

God loves justice.  He is a holy God.  He cannot sin and He is always righteous.  He looks for righteousness in us as we obey Him.  That means we turn away from evil, from perversions, all manner of sin and lawlessness.  We seek justice.  We intercede for others if they cannot do it for themselves.  We care for one another and we love one another.  We stand for God and all that is right in His name.

Learn to do good; seek justice, Reprove the ruthless, Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow. – Isaiah 1:17  NASB

For the Lord loves justice And does not forsake His godly ones;  They are preserved forever, But the descendants of the wicked will be cut off. – Psalms 37:28  NASB

In my current Precept bible study we are reminded that the world calls good evil and evil good.  Sin is no longer sin in society’s eyes.   I find that people often flinch at the word “sin”.  Today in our service at Grace Community Church in Torrey, Utah, Pastor David Schuh reminded us of Matthew 12:36-37.  We are accountable for our very utterances.  Yep, every word out of our mouths.  The words will either justify us or condemn us.  God calls us to be holy, to be perfect!  He tells us this in scripture.  Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:48, “Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”  We may not make it in this life but you better believe we should be growing and learning His truths in order to come closer than not!  We should know God through our Lord Jesus Christ and through bible study.  We need to understand what God’s justice looks like and how to love with His love.  We humbly walk with Him, praise His holy name and we seek justice in this life and we love and we forgive.  Happy Sunday!

But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgement.  For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” – Matthew 12:36-37

The exercise of justice is joy for the righteous, But terror to the workers of iniquity.  -Proverbs 21:15  NASB
