Greetings to all in His grace and love.  Another great sermon this morning by my Pastor David Schuh. You can find Grace Christian Church at https://gracechristiantorrey.com.  The Website is still being set up but the message can be heard on Zoom on Sunday mornings at 10:00.  Hope you’ll join us.

Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.'” – Luke 4:8  NASB

Pastor Schuh touched on a nerve today.   He told us many of us are worshiping our government.  We are looking to our political leaders to solve the pandemic problems.  He’s right!  I felt a definite stab when I realized I was looking to them as well, to lead and solve current problems.  I’ll be the first to say I rely on God but, do I?  Entirely?  Now, I do pray for our leaders.  I pray they will allow God’s wisdom to guide them and lead them to be actual leaders.  Leaders we elected them to be.  As a united states citizen that’s what I expect from them.  Now take all of that and look at current events.  Has a president dealt with the magnitude of something like this before?  Has this many people died in this short of a time span before, all while shutting down practically the whole economy?   Am I relying on an entity that can never live up to the standards in my mind, let alone anyone else’s?

So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom. – Psalms 90:12  NASB

What I really want(ed) to see was more of  “us”  working together to help one another.  You know what?  I have seen that.  I’ve seen health care workers step up and travel to hot spots to help out.  I’ve seen volunteers in long lines handing out food and essentials (that ever elusive toilet paper).  I’ve seen people playing music on balconies and funny videos and scripture messages.  Restaurants and other businesses offering takeout, online mailing and curb side assistance.  Post offices open and serving the public.  People are reaching out!  We are made in the image of God.  All of us image bearers have a responsibility.  Do we wear a mask or not?

God created man in His own image, In the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. – Genesis 1:27  NASB

How long is your life?  How long is mine?  God has each of our days numbered.  He knows how many hairs are on our head.  He loved us enough to redeem us when even our good deeds are as filthy rags compared to Him.  So where are we?  Who’s our Lord?  Are we complacent?  Are we just biding our time until the government swoops in to save us?  I have an idea.  Wear your mask.  Protect yourself and others until we know we can return to a world that doesn’t threaten our family and friends, our neighbors (the whole world) or our unknown friends and family.   The world was affected.  The world is in itself accountable to God whether it acknowledges Him or not.  We who acknowledge Him, serve only Him.

“Lord, make me to know my end And what is the extent of my days;  Let me know how transient I am.  “Behold, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my lifetime as nothing in Your sight;  Surely every man at his best is a mere breath. Selah.  “Surely every man walks about as a phantom;  Surely they make an uproar for nothing;  He amasses riches and does not know who will gather them.  “And now, Lord, for what do I wait?  My hope is in You. – Psalms 39:4-7  NASB
