Cowboy Church Pulpit

We are staying at the Winding River RV Resort.  On Sunday’s they offer Cowboy Church.  This last Sunday our non-denominational leader did not show up.  We did, however, have a gentleman, in our midst who was a pastor for 44 years.  He graciously agreed to lead our tiny group. (There were 7 of us.)

Nature

God’s stuff!

We had a fine sermon, outdoors, with the Colorado river running beside us and tall pine surrounding us.  The pastor reminded us of God’s creation that is in the beauty of nature.  Of course we are all sitting outdoors and greatly appreciating it!  He told us how he and his new bride had lost everything in a fire that swept through their “dorm”.  His father had been staying with them and did not make it out.  They lost him, all their wedding gifts and school books, plus notes needed for upcoming finals.  What got this couple through was the love and support from those who understand that we live in a broken world where we will have trouble.  But, we have each other.  And, we have have the love of God through His Son, Jesus Christ.

decent to Colorado River (we later had a trail ride that started and ended at our camp)

River crossing which, coincidentally, traverses through Cowboy Church grounds

Cowboy Church

We like to focus on happiness.  There is nothing wrong with being happy but God asks us to seek instead, joy.  The joy we receive when we are filled with the love of God!  The joy when we realize that Jesus died for us, then lives in us when we believe.  Our Cowboy Church pastor reminded us that God is not only beside us and behind us… He is inside us!  Yes, the Holy Spirit resides in us to guide us, to rebuke us and to fill us with the joy that can only come when we have given our hearts to God through Christ Jesus.  Oh, the love Jesus Himself fills me with!  Pass it on.

Some shared scripture from the group at Cowboy Church.  We met some lovely people while there!

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.  For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.” – Romans 1:16-17 NASB

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:14 NASB

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. – Philippians 3:14 NASB

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.  John 3:16 NASB
