Interesting day.  We sit here in an activity based KOA campground, watching many labor to pack up grills, chairs, awnings, tents, campers, trucks, SUV’s, kids, wives husbands and dogs, oh, and a few other furries! This is being done on the actual holiday called Labor Day.  I get it.  It’s not called Labor Free Day, after all.   It makes me think about all we strive for.  We humans who think we have so many important things to do and also that reward we earn, to relax and enjoy.  Say what?!!!

Hope at guard (her camping job)

I admit.  I can Labor endlessly.  I can also become spiritually lazy, lazy to the point that I forget Who’s I am.  Then it’s forehead slap time.  Oh yeah.  Jesus.  My Lord, My Savior.  I have been grieving the Holy Spirit in my lack of spiritual consciousness.  Thanks be to God I read daily devotionals to remind me and bring me back to reality, if only for a moment.  My labors are futile without my eyes on the prize.  My life is meaningless without the Hope I have placed in God through His Son Jesus Christ.  Head slap over.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. – 1Corinthians 15:58

Jesus tells us, basically, maybe with a little humor, “And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying. (Don’t labor so much you lose sight!!!)  For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things.  But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you. LUKE 12:29-31  And yet?  We labor and sweat over many perishable things.  Now it’s not to say don’t go camping etc..  What Jesus meant was what Paul described as keeping our eyes on the prize!  Stay focused on the kingdom.  Know Who God is and that means study in His word. I don’t know about you, but about this time of year I am greatly looking forward to my Precept bible class!!!  His Peace and Love. Selah.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. – Luke 12:34
