When those Hebrews wandered the desert for 40 years, and then later got taken captive to Babylon, the lesson was about trust, faithfulness, relying on Him and representing God to other nations. Instead of pointing to how great God was or trusting in Him only, they made a golden calf to worship and later ignored prophets sent to turn them from their wicked ways. God addressed those incidences and called the people obstinate with hearts of stone. But in Ezekiel He promised to exchange their hearts of stone with a heart of flesh!
And I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within them. And I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh. – Ezekiel 11:19 So God has been faithful in His pursuit to turn us back to Him. He has forgiven grievances (SIN, SIN, SINS) against Him. He has given mankind mercy and grace (unmerited favor). He has loved us with a love far greater than any kind of love we puny humans can offer, especially without Him. He asks us to give Him our hearts, our minds, our souls. He is trustworthy. By His sovereignty, His holiness, His awesomeness He is Who, we as humans, should be turning our lives over to. He saves us from condemnation. He saves us from eternal damnation. In Him we live. In Him we have eternal hope. In Him we have eternal life in relationship with The One True God!
Paul writes;I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, – 1 Corinthians 1:4 NASB The trust thing is a process for most people. We love God through His Son, Jesus Christ. We trust who Jesus was but do we trust all that scripture tells us of what God promises? If we do there is nothing to fear in this life, except God. And we fear Him with reverence and awe and wonder. He is our God. He is the Creator. He is all and everything we ever needed or will ever need. Trust in the One who is the beginning and the end. Trust the One with eternity in the span of His hands. Trust, love, obey and pass on His great glory! Amen.
