In life we have moments. They are typically fleeting and the best of them seem to be the swiftest. In traveling with my husband and our dog Hope, we have both been taking photographs of many moments, each suspended in time. I love watching waves and looking for smooth, round rocks to paint. In this picture I take a moment to watch waves while Hope looks for rocks! In the days after the crucifixion and resurrection, the Apostles have precious moments of realization and discovery. What Jesus taught them and commanded of them are connecting through scripture! The difference for them from my photos of waves, is that the Holy Spirit is opening their eyes and is giving them total recall of all they have witnessed. If only I had that great ability!
But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. – Acts 2:14 NASB
Peter goes on to quote from the prophet Joel. The point being; we as humans have precious moments, whether on a beach, in a forest, or with our loved ones. We can capture those moments on film, in paintings, drawings etc.. The real events that mattered happened a little over two thousand years ago. Peter had the Holy Spirit to guide him and give him total recall. When we believe we also have the Holy Spirit and the Holy Bible. They are the greatest gifts. Memories may fade and some photos may help but the word of God lives on in our hearts, minds and souls. May we count time spent with Him as the most precious of all!
Grace, mercy and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. – 2 John 1:3 NASB
