I’ve been thinking a lot about what compels us to observe something.  Is it the sensationalized commotion tied to it or is it something even more compelling?  In Acts chapter 3, Peter and John heal a lame man at the Beautiful Gate.  What ensues involves the act of healing and then the gospel message.  The message is given to the very people that called for Barabbas (a guilty felon) to be freed and for Jesus to be crucified.  The Apostles tell the people that even though they “killed the Author of life” Peter goes on to say that he knows they acted in ignorance.  This includes you and me.  Sin nailed Jesus to the cross and we are all sinners.  But what follows is lovely.  Peter reminds these very people that God raised up His Servant (Jesus), whom Moses and the other prophets foretold.  God sent Jesus to them first.  He sent Jesus to bless them by turning every one of them from their wickedness.  I get goosebumps just thinking about the chosen people of God, hearing that.

let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead-by Him this man is standing before you well. – Acts 4:10 NASB

I am happy to say that not only does a lame man walk but the act of healing him reveals a truth to the crowd that also heals many souls.  My final message is not mine but Peter and John’s through Christ Jesus…

“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus.”-Acts 3:19-20 NASB
