I’ve said my prayers, asked for help from the Holy Spirit, so, here we go. Hello world! My name is Kristi and I am a student of the bible, through Precept Upon Precept bible studies. I take a class through Washington Heights Community Church. My husband, Jim and I are about to embark on our first journey outside of Farmington, Utah, complete with a new Fifth wheel attached to a large, beefy truck. Our first place to visit is Heber, Utah. Both of us have been in Heber prior to this visit, but not camping and not with our sidekick, a large black Standard Poodle named “Hope”. Hope is very appropriately named as she can be a handful on the leash. She is not friendly to female dogs and tends to scream bark at other walking dogs, especially if they engage her with barking. Our “hope” is that we can travel with her and keep our sanity! But I digress. The best part of sharing “Blogs” is to gain some insight and hopefully, some new information. My blog is about hope, not the dog, but the beautiful hope promised in our Lord and Savior!

so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. – Hebrews 6:18-20

Those verses are so profound in that we have everything through Jesus Christ, having the full promise of God, for God does not lie! I have this hope and so does every believer! I read those words of scripture and am filled with a sure love, a love that is beyond description. My hope is in God through Christ Jesus. Christ loved us enough to come and fulfill God’s promise by dying on a cross, and rising from the dead on the third day. I place my hope in the promise of redemption through faith in God’s salvation plan. That plan includes the changing of my mind (repentance) and having a heart for God, and increasing my faith with knowledge.

In my readings today I was reminded to guard my heart, to not put emphasis on feelings but to remain steadfast in God’s word and rely on His love and guidance. Amen fellow readers! Following ones heart outside of God means we are relying on feelings, i.e., emotions. These tend to be impulse responses and not thought out or measured reactions to longings or sinful indulgences. I know. I’ve been there. I am a work in progress and I get why God wants us to guard our hearts with all diligence. The world is full of temptations and we still live in it. Our old sinful nature can still respond to old feelings and the urge to “follow our hearts”. So today, prior to our first drive into new adventures, I gear up for placing myself out in the world and choose to shine God’s light and His word into the void. I will try not to post about feelings, but instead, by what I’ve learned about God and His beloved Son Jesus Christ! I encourage you all to keep reading the bible and guard your hearts for God. Lastly, live in His hope!

Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flows the springs of life. – Proverbs 4:23
